Mahjongg at the Club
Are you dreading the long, cold winter and wondering what you will do to pass the time? Might you be looking to get together with old friends while making new friends? Does learning a new game sound like fun? Perhaps learning to play Mahjongg at ILCC is for you!
There is a group of ILCC ladies who play Mahjongg at the club on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and we are looking for others to join us playing the game. Attendance is not required; we simply show up to play when we are available so there is a lot of flexibility for our personal schedules. Mahjongg is a game that originated in China. It is commonly played by four players, although we also enjoy a version that uses three players. Similar to the Western card game rummy, mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance. You can learn more about the game at www.nationalmahjonggleague.org.
If this interests you, contact Kathy Paris (jdkparis@sbcglobal.net or 317-450-3490) or anyone from the club who enjoys the game. We will be happy to teach it to you!

Member Meeting
The next scheduled member meeting November 17th has been MOVED to November 10th due to travel. Please make a note if you plan on attending.
Food Service Changes
Chef Joyce has taken a position which moves her out of state. While AJs looks for her permanent replacement, Chef Chino and Melanie will step in. Food offering days and times might change as we help accommodate AJs schedule and we will communicate if there are any changes.
We’re also issuing a survey to help keep AJs in the loop as to what drives members to the club. Please find the survey link here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QV63DVG Our hope is that all members fill this out as good food service is important to all of us as we know and AJs has been doing an incredible job. Let’s keep them busy in the off-season.
Member Involvement
Interested in volunteering for events and committees? As we come to the end of the year it’s important if you are interested in volunteering for committees and events moving forward, reach out to Kyle or one of the members of the board and we can get you connected.. Volunteers of time are a huge asset to the club and the more volunteers we have, the more we can accomplish to keep ILCC humming.
Improvement Projects Update
Main Dining Area Climate. Spearheaded by Rob Schlafer, much progress has been made above the ceiling to patch gaps and holes and other ways for heat or cold to get in from the outside. This should make an impact in the dining room so we are keeping an eye on over the winter and into the warmer months next season. There is also a new thermostat for the main dining area. Thanks to Alex Huettl and Forrest
Pro Shop AC. The wall unit in the Pro Shop is working properly and is unable to meet the need in peak cooling and heating days. An unused duct from the Men’s Locker Room unit was redirected to supplement the HVAC needs of the Pro Shop. With this change, coupled with closing the entrance door and blinds during peak heating days, the temperature was more manageable.
Dining Room Ceiling and Fixtures. The next improvement work in consideration will be to close the remaining leaks, remove the diffusers and replace them with ceiling tiles, assess and clean up wiring and insulation issues above the dining room ceiling and use what we learn from the cleanup work to begin building a plan for addressing the ceiling, lights and fans in the dining room. This can be considered phase 1 of the dining room remodeling - and we will be looking for some volunteers to assist.
Pro’s Corner
Greetings All,
Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s October already. It seems like this season has just flown by. Even so, we still have lots of golf yet to be played and this is the best time of year to play!
All of the league play is complete with the exception of the President’s Cup which should wrap up with the finals being played this month. Thursday night scrambles will also be concluding in the middle of this month. The Men’s Choose-ups will continue through October, weather permitting. The Men’s Closing Choose-up & Dinner is scheduled for Friday, November 1st.
Just an update on the golf course construction projects. The short game practice area has now been seeded and will be closed until the spring. The area around the practice putting green will be seeded this week, however, the putting green itself will remain open. The middle tee on hole number 7 has been stripped and leveled. It will be seeded this week as well. There will also be some more tree work done this offseason, so I will keep you updated with that.
Just a reminder that the pro shop hours will change with the weather conditions and daylight hours so be sure to note our fall opening and closing times. I’m hoping for a great fall golf season!
Hit ‘em straight!
