She will still very much be part of the club and be happy to see us all there. The Board wishes to thank her for her time, dedication, and efforts during her tenure and her perspective on the direction of the club will be missed.
Per the by-laws, a new board member has been selected to fulfill the remaining term. The Board wishes to welcome Tony Vollmer as our new Member-at-Large to the Board starting July 1st, 2024. He will be fulfilling the remaining term for Mary Beth through Dec 2024.
Website Updates
As we mentioned last month, the new membership portal is up and running. Hopefully everyone is enjoying the new interface.
Updates to the main website have been performed such as adding all events to the main calendar in the member section, updating the scrolling pictures in the banner to the newly painted building, showing off the new look of the pool, and a few other tweaks to help us streamline presenting our club in the best possible way to our members and prospective members.
We’ve also added a few pages that are meant to help us organize content that aren’t linked from any main page to eliminate random browsing. An example is our newsletters. If you would like to see historical newsletters, you can do so at http://www.indianlakecountryclub.com/blog. As we add more, we’ll make sure to continue to share them out.
Improvement Projects Update
We have a couple of improvement projects going on at the club, here are some quick updates on those from the Building and Maintenance Committee.
Exterior Painting
As you all may have noticed, the painting and outside building repair was complete. We have also installed a new pool cover and the lounge chairs are out by the pool. We hope that everyone enjoys the new look and feel of the outside of the club and enjoys the pool area even more. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped clean up the pool and landscaping in May!
Cart Path Project
Several loads of stone have been purchased and you will start seeing new paths being laid on the course. If you see some equipment on the course, please be patient and considerate. The first planned path is for 6 tee box to 9 tee box. That area typically holds water when it rains and is also the shortest of the planned paths. A HUGE thank you to Jeff Keesling for donating the equipment, labor, and expertise it takes to lay out almost 40 tons of stone, saving the club thousands of dollars. He likes Maker’s Mark if anyone feels like buying him a cocktail.
If anyone is interested in helping out with these projects and just doesn’t have the time or can’t do the physical part of it - a great alternative would be to help fund loads of stone. The cost is about $800-$900 per truckload. See Justin Wilson.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the season.
Entertainment Committee Request
Looking to get involved in a volunteer opportunity at ILCC? The club has a committee that is responsible for entertainment and decorating. We work throughout the year to provide what is needed to put on each social event at ILCC. We try to meet once a month for about an hour to review and prepare for all of the wonderful social events that happen at ILCC. We are looking for some new members - interested or would like more information? Text/call Sandy Schlafer at (330) 322-2295 or send an email to sandyschlafer@gmail.com. Our next meeting is June 11th at 6:00pm. We meet in the Dining Room.
Don’t have time to volunteer but want to support all the great events at ILCC? We have an Amazon Wish List. Click on the link below to see if there is something that you can purchase to help support this group. This list consists of supplies that we use on not only a regular basis, but also some items that will help us in the long run to lower our decorating expenses.
Pro’s Corner
Greetings All,
We are going to hit the ground running in June with our Men’s Stroke Play Tournament June 1st and 2nd. It was a great time and a fun event. That is followed by the Indiana Cup Matches on the 8th and 9th. The Indiana Cup is an interclub match against our friends at Richmond Elks.
Also, in the world of Indian Lake golf, the President’s Cup players have been flighted and matches have begun. We ended up with 40 players, 10 in each flight! The Men’s Tuesday Night League has also officially begun so clear your Tuesday nights so you can join the fun. Speaking of fun, the Thursday Night Scrambles have been a blast, selling out almost every week. Get your name in early on Thursdays to be sure and make the field. New members, if you have any questions on how to join any of our leagues or golf activities, be sure to reach out to me or another ILCC member!
The Indian Lake pro shop is packed with new 2024 goodies marked below retail pricing, so come check it out. Remember that when you patronize the ILCC pro shop, you are supporting the club as 100% of the proceeds go to the club!
Lastly, a reminder that my Junior Golf Camps this summer will be June 18-21 and July 23-26. Registration goes quickly so look for the sign up sheets at the beginning of each month. The age range is 8-16 years old and the cost is $90 for the week.
Hit ‘em straight!
